Cold weather is dangerous for a lost cat — hypothermia is a serious threat. But cold also changes behaviour predictably: cats seek warmth, making them easier to find.

- Hypothermia — body temperature drops dangerously.
- Frostbite — ears, tail, and paws vulnerable.
- Dehydration — cats can't drink frozen water.
- Antifreeze poisoning — sweet but deadly.
- Car engines — cats climb in for warmth.
Winter Search Tips
- Search near heat sources — car engines, dryer vents, heating vents.
- Bang on car hood before starting engine.
- Build a winter shelter to attract your cat.
- Warm food before placing outside — scent carries further.
- Track in snow — cat prints are visible.
